The fit

Spencer Danielson won the Mountain West championship and reached the College Football Playoff in 2024. Now he takes Boise State into the Pac-12 — and the 2027 recruiting class reflects the jump. Twelve commits from seven states, headlined by a quarterback with 24 offers and an NFL pedigree, a running back who chose Boise over Oregon and UCLA, and a 6-5 receiver who turned down Washington.

The western footprint is deliberate. Three California commits (McFarland, Peko, Kazmouz), two from Arizona (Snyder, Smith), two from Washington (Mitchell, Rainwater) and two Idaho natives (Bagley, Barnes). Danielson is recruiting the Pac-12 footprint and competing for prospects against Pac-12 programs — and winning. Hassan Smith held 16 offers. Ben Rainwater held 14. J’isaiah Mitchell held 13. These are recruits with options who chose the Broncos.

The class is lean at 12 commits but has a clear physical identity. Five commits stand 6-5 or taller. The receiver room (Mitchell at 6-5, Putman at 6-5, Parks at 6-2) brings size. The defensive front (Peko at 300 pounds, Bagley at 260, Kazmouz at 215) has the weight Danielson needs to compete in a conference with Oregon, USC and Washington on the schedule.

The commits

Kael Snyder — QB, 6-3, 210, Perry HS, Gilbert, Ariz. Highest-rated commit in the class at 3.9 stars with a Profile grade of 88.88. Held 24 offers including Arizona, Arizona State, Iowa, Kentucky, Utah and Washington. His father, Adam Snyder, played offensive line at Oregon and in the NFL. Boise State was his first offer.

Malachi McFarland — RB, 5-10, 175, Damien HS, La Verne, Calif. Rated 3.6 stars. Held 11 offers including Oregon and UCLA — and chose Boise State. A speed back from Southern California who picked the Broncos over two Pac-12 programs in his home state.

J’isaiah Mitchell — WR, 6-5, 180, Puyallup HS, Puyallup, Wash. Rated 3.6 stars. Held 13 offers including Washington and Washington State. At 6-5, he has the length to win on contested catches and project as a red-zone weapon.

Ben Rainwater — OT, 6-6, 285, Inglemoor HS, Kenmore, Wash. Rated 3.6 stars. Held 14 offers. At 6-6, 285 he has the size and offer sheet of a tackle projecting to compete at the Pac-12 level.

Kekoa Peko — DT, 6-1, 300, St. John Bosco HS, Bellflower, Calif. Rated 3.5 stars. Held 13 offers. Plays at one of the premier high school football programs in Southern California. At 300 pounds, he anchors the interior of the defensive class.

Hassan Smith — CB, 6-1, 170, Desert Mountain HS, Scottsdale, Ariz. Rated 3.4 stars. Held 16 offers — the most of any commit in the class. At 6-1, he has the length that Pac-12 corners need against conference receivers.

Grayson Kazmouz — Edge, 6-5, 215, Laguna Beach HS, Laguna Beach, Calif. Rated 3.3 stars. Held 11 offers. At 6-5, 215 he has the frame to add weight and develop as a pass rusher at the next level.

Kingston Parks — WR, 6-2, 180, Aledo HS, Aledo, Texas. Rated 3.3 stars. Held 6 offers. The third wide receiver in the class, giving the Broncos depth and size in the pass-catching group.

Parker Bagley — DE, 6-4, 260, Lewiston HS, Lewiston, Idaho. Rated 3.2 stars. Held 8 offers. One of two Idaho natives in the class. At 6-4, 260 he has the size to play defensive end in a Pac-12 front.

Maxton Barnes — OT, 6-7, 250, Columbia HS, Nampa, Idaho. Rated 3.1 stars. Held 4 offers. At 6-7, the tallest commit in the class. A developmental tackle with a massive frame who projects as a multi-year build.

Bryer Putman — WR, 6-5, 195, Wilton HS, Wilton, Iowa. Rated 2.9 stars. Held 2 offers. The lone Midwest recruit in the class. At 6-5, he adds another long target to a receiver group that already includes Mitchell (6-5) and Parks (6-2).

Ryce Palepoi — LB, 6-1, 205, Corner Canyon HS, Draper, Utah. Rated 2.9 stars. Held 2 offers. The lone linebacker in the class.

Twelve commits across seven states. The Broncos’ first recruiting class as a Pac-12 program is compact and loaded with Power 4 interest — seven of 12 commits held double-digit offers. The quarterback turned down 23 others. The running back chose Boise State over Oregon and UCLA. The class has length at receiver, size on both lines and the kind of offer sheets that say the program’s trajectory is real.
