Diehard watch parties are coming to Swing Away Golf

Blazer fans asked for a watch party. Diehard and Swing Away Golf are making it happen — starting Oct. 31.

If you've ever tried to watch a UAB road game at most sports bars in Birmingham, you know the drill. Twelve TVs. None of them on your game. The bartender is flipping between Alabama and Auburn, and seems almost annoyed that you're there. The sound is blaring on the SEC game you and your friends never asked for. Your game — the one you actually care about — is on a 32-inch screen in the corner with closed captions, and that's if you are lucky.

You asked for a watch party. Diehard delivered.

Diehard Sports Network and Swing Away Golf have partnered to bring Blazer fans a game-day experience they've been asking for. Starting Oct. 31, the Diehard Watch Party gives fans a private bay at Swing Away Golf — a dedicated 16-foot 4K screen, sound on your game, a full bar and food delivered to your seat.

No split screens. No fighting for the remote. No apologizing for caring about Blazer football.

What fans can expect

Swing Away Golf is a premium golf and entertainment club in Birmingham at 100 Frankfurt Cir., Suite DE — just off I-65 near Lakeshore Parkway, across from the entrance to Red Mountain Park.

The venue features Full Swing simulators that offer highly accurate virtual rounds on many of the top golf courses in the world, private bays with 16-foot 4K screens and a full bar. Food is delivered directly from adjacent restaurants to your bay. Nobody misses a play.

The bar prices alone are worth showing up: $2 Outlaw Light pints, $3 Miller Lites, $8 and $10 pitchers, local craft options from Goat Island Brewing and a full liquor shelf. This is not a $15 Protective Stadium beer situation.

Fans can also order food from a number of adjacent restaurants. From pizza to wings to burgers to sub sandwiches, there's no shortage of options while you watch the game.

For the Diehard Watch Party, the setup is simple: a private bay with chairs, tables and direct access to the bar is dedicated entirely to the Blazers game. Fans show up, grab a drink, settle in and watch together. The way it should be.

"We've got a great social area, full bar, the best drink prices in Birmingham and we love the Blazers," said Swing Away Golf owner Charley Bolack. "We're looking forward to hosting Blazer Nation here at Swing Away."

First Diehard Watch Party: Oct. 31

The first Diehard Watch Party is Saturday, Oct. 31 — the Blazers are at South Florida with an 11 a.m. CT kickoff.

RSVP is not required, but it helps us prepare for the crowd. RSVP for the Oct. 31 Diehard Watch Party here.

The Diehard Watch Party schedule will expand to include remaining football road games and select men's basketball road games through the end of the 2026-27 season, including the American Conference tournament.

More than a watch party

This partnership is about more than game days. Swing Away Golf is the presenting sponsor of Coach's Corner on Diehard Sports Network — the press conference recaps and coach Q&As that Blazer fans rely on throughout the season. Every Coach's Corner piece will carry Swing Away branding.

Swing Away is also providing studio access for Diehard podcast recordings, and Diehard readers will find the full Swing Away experience — booking, specials, photos and event info — on the Swing Away Golf partner page on the Diehard Sports Network site.

Blazer fans asked for a place that's theirs on game day. Diehard delivered one, thanks to Charley and Swing Away. Let's show up and show out, Blazer Nation!

RSVP for Oct. 31 here and follow Diehard on X and Facebook for watch party updates.
