ESPN is bringing SportsCenter on Campus to Protective Stadium for UAB's homecoming game against East Carolina on Thursday, Oct. 15 — the first time the show has visited Birmingham.

Matt Barrie and Chase Daniel will host the live broadcast from outside Protective Stadium from 4 to 4:30 p.m. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN.

A Thursday night conference game on ESPN is already UAB's highest-profile home date of the season. A live SportsCenter broadcast from the stadium makes it the biggest football event at Protective Stadium this fall.

Kids 12 and under get in free

UAB is pushing to fill Protective Stadium for the homecoming broadcast, and the centerpiece is an aggressive ticket promotion: children 12 and under get in free when an adult purchases a reserved ticket.

Use promo code U12FREE when buying tickets at UAB's ticket page. Fans must purchase at least one reserved ticket to receive complimentary youth tickets.

Reserved tickets start at $22 and range up to $55 depending on seat location.

The online promo code is valid until 2:30 p.m. on Oct. 15. After that, families can redeem the promotion at the Protective Stadium box office.

Groups of 15 or more can contact the UAB Athletics Ticket Office at (205) 975-8221 for discounted group rates and fan experience packages.

A full day of homecoming

The game caps a day of homecoming activities under the "Blaze the Seas" theme:

  • Noon — Homecoming parade
  • 2:30 p.m. — Blazer Village opens outside Protective Stadium with live music, games, inflatables and yard games
  • 4 p.m. — SportsCenter on Campus live broadcast
  • 6:30 p.m. — Kickoff: UAB vs. East Carolina on ESPN

For families with young kids, the timeline works: arrive for Blazer Village at 2:30, catch SportsCenter at 4, grab dinner and settle in for kickoff at 6:30.
